Heat shrink tubing is a polymer tube that shrinks when heated. It is manufactured using radiation cross-linking.
How Heat Shrink Tubing Works
Heat shrink tubing is used to insulate and protect cable connections and electrical equipment. When heated, it conforms tightly around the cable or harness being protected.
It is widely used in household appliances, electronic equipment, automobiles, aircraft, and wiring harnesses. It provides waterproofing, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance when applied to cable assemblies.
Protects cables from pulling, bending, abrasion, and friction.
Heat shrink tubing materials, sizes and colors
The material of the heat shrink sleeve is polyolefin resin. The manufacturing method is the same as ordinary pipes and is manufactured by extrusion molding.
Use an electric dryer or heat gun to blow hot air onto the heat-shrinkable tube. The heat-shrinkable tube will shrink due to the heat, making it close to the surface of the cable that needs to be protected and fixed in the designated position.
When heat is applied, the tube shrinks due to the effect of returning to its original state. Our heat shrinkage ratio is 2:1.
Fourteen sizes are available, ranging from 1.5 mm to 15.5 mm in diameter. Two colors are available: black and clear.
Size selection guide
Choose one whose inner diameter after complete shrinkage is slightly smaller than the diameter of the object to be coated.
Heating points and precautions
Usually, this is a method of heating directly with an industrial dryer, but there is also a method of heating with a belt conveyor oven for mass production.
When heating, heat from the center of the tube to both ends so that there is no air in the tube.
Pay attention to the heat resistance of cables and parts covered with heat shrink tubing.
