Voltage drop phenomenon of LED light strips

As LED strips get longer, voltage drops can cause the LED strips to lose intensity.
The LED at the beginning of the strip (closest to the power source) will glow brightly.
In comparison, the LEDs at the end of the strip will have a dim appearance.

Why does voltage drop occur?

Any length of wire has a certain resistance.
The longer the wire, the greater the resistance. The resistance causes a voltage drop, and the voltage drop causes the LED to dim.
Therefore, the LED at the end of the strip will always get less voltage than the LED at the power supply.
If the strip is long enough, the voltage drop will become significant, resulting in a noticeable difference in brightness.

How to avoid pressure drop?

Although LED light strips will have voltage drop problems, we can avoid them through the following methods.

Parallel connection: When long LED light strips need to be installed, it is recommended to connect the light strips in parallel for power supply every 5 meters.

Power supply at both ends of the light strip: The maximum length of the LED light strip recommended on the market is 5 meters. If you need to install a 10-meter-long light bar, you can connect both ends of the light bar to the power supply.

Use multiple power supplies: Using multiple power supplies is a great way to get some brightness. But it requires wiring planning so the light strip doesn't end up too far from the power source.
